Find Your Focus

Between work, family, and the general busyness of our lives, finding a moment to pause and reflect on our own goals and values can sometimes be a struggle.

Fortunately, all it takes is a small amount of time to lead you towards more focus and clarity in life, career, or general well-being.

I recently hosted and facilitated a Reset and Recharge workshop with fellow coaches, Amy Lauer and Tres Jimenez. Amy is a transformational leadership coach and Tres is a creative catalyst who coaches on career. My coaching focuses on career and well-being.

The focus of our workshop was to create a community where each attendee could create space to reflect and focus on what’s important to them as we start the new year.

We built upon the more traditional life wheel and created a “periodic table” of life elements, which allows individuals to think outside of the traditional life values or segments. Each participant was asked to look at the life elements and rank them on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the least satisfying and 10 being the most satisfying. The next step was to choose the element that was most significant and discover and share why it was important with the group.

The main themes coming out of our workshop were:

  • Focusing on what’s important to you with a framework is simple AND powerful.

  • Prioritizing one life element helps you understand your values and where to focus your attention.

  • Selecting 1 change you are going to make helps you take action and feel empowered.

  • Meeting and talking to others with similar challenges helps us feel a greater sense of community.

If you want to do this reflection for yourself as you start the new year, get your free download here. If you want to share your reflections with a community and missed the first workshop, we are hosting the same workshop on January 20th! RSVP here to register.

Cheers to you and happy 2023!
